Studio

Stillform explores what happens when apparently permanent material is placed under forces it should not be able to sustain.

Position

Mass bends.

Structures resist.

Voids carry weight.

Stillness contains force.

The work occupies the moment before consequence.

Material · Making

From concept to material.

Form, surface and structure are developed together, with specialist fabricators and engineers helping realise the work at its intended scale.

Material

Fabricated steel, blackened steel, bronze and Corten — chosen for permanence, and for the way each accepts force.

Form

Mass composed in tension, compression and imbalance. The work holds a condition rather than an image.

Force

Each piece is conceived around a pressure it should not be able to sustain — and does, briefly.

Making

Plate forming, welding, patination and finishing — developed by the studio and realised with specialist fabricators where required.
